SINGLE HUNG WINDOWS

Sliding-hung windows are arguably the most common type of home window in Winnipeg. Their design essentially consists of a frame containing two window panes. In a single-hung window, the top window pane is permanently lodged in a fixed position, while the bottom window pane has the capacity to slide up and down the window frame.  If the window is a double-hung window, both panes can slide up and down.  Sliding hung windows can also be installed on a side-to-side track.

This type of window is advantageous because it can easily be opened with one hand, which makes it rather convenient to operate. Because you’re sliding an entire pane, you will experience plenty of ventilation. They also tend to look fantastic from an aesthetic viewpoint. Additionally, the fact that they are on a sliding track as opposed to swinging inward or outward means that they take up a lot less space when they are open.

The one drawback to a sliding hung window is they can be difficult to clean because they have to be cleaned from both the inside and the outside. In the event of outside cleaning, it is important that the outside screen is removed. Yet the ease of function and visual aesthetic make this a minor issue to worry about.
